100 year

As I have been preparing for a talk that I need to give in a couple of weeks, I thought it would be interesting to see what the concerns of the brethren was some 100 years ago upon the same subject. I looked up a conference report from Spring Conference in 1910. It was very interesting. The concerns are not that much different. They may have stated it differently, but the concerns were the same.

It amazes me that thing really have not changed. When we read about Noah, we know that the Lord gave him 120 years to preach to the people and for them to repent. In that time frame, they did not do much repenting. How many years have we been given? What does it mean to repent? This seems to be a popular question.

100 years ago, we were instructed that repentance is a choice. It is a frame or state of mind. We must wake daily and start the repentance process. Repentance is change. We need to commit to change our lives such that they are in harmony with the Celestial laws of God. When our lives have been formed and fashions after those principles we will be worthy to live in his presence.

So, do you wake with that resolve daily? Some times I wonder. I recently came across some information in my home that leads me to believe we are not all waking with that resolve. I worry that we are not all working towards the same goals.

Do I expect perfection? I don't think so. I know that I am not perfect, thus I do not expect the same from others. However, I do expect, myself included, that we are all working for that perfection or completeness that will allow us access to the Lord's presence. If there is something in your life that is not in harmony with that of the Lord's, change it, change it today! If you need help, get it, get it today! I know that it may not be the most comfortable or easy thing to change, but it needs to be done.

I am available if you are. So is the Lord.
