Association
Without disclosing too much information, this evening I am going to talk about a council in which I had the opportunity to sit in.
I listened to a sequence of events that had taken place in the life of an individual that reminded me that none of us know who is watching us, what will happen to us because of it, and how it will effect our lives. This individual was found guilty by association. Though they did not participate in an acts, they were present, aware, and therefore associated. It was this association that started a domino effect on the rest of their life.
Association led to judgements, judgements let to convictions, convictions let to incarceration, incarceration led to lose of membership. Because of simple choice made, being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or allowing oneself to be in these places, this individual lost all that they valued in life.
The lesson I learned here was that at the lowest of lowest moments in this individuals life, they made a choice that allowed them to sit before this council. They related of the moment of low and how they had looked in the mirror. At that moment they made a choice, not to be bitter, not to be angry, not to seek revenge, not to destroy, but to repent/change in the truest sense of the word. They chose to change/renew their view of God, themselves, and the world. They chose to stand on God's side from that moment forward.
I learned that no matter where you are, no matter what the circumstances, you can change. The Lord will not allow you to have challenges that you cannot overcome. Though the road may be long and difficult, it is not impossible. The important thing is the choice made, the choice that is renewed and re-applied day after day, hour after hour, minute after minute. We must commit to the Lord and his will.
This principle applies to us both spiritually and temporally. Are you applying it?
