Growing Up

This morning I had the opportunity to go swimming with the 11 year old scouts. It was also the last meeting our youngest will be having with the 11 year olds, as an 11 year old. To say the least, it was interesting.

The almost 12 year old, felt he was big enough to sit in the front seat. I was amazed. I looked in the review mirror several times and wondered if I was ever as rowdy, care free, and absolutely bold in ignoring adults. I tried to remember what it was like to be that age. I did not do very good.

The other thing that amazed me was the incredible difference between the front seat and the back. There were times that the front started to digress and then caught himself to gain full composure. The line is starting to darken. It is thin, but it is there. I wonder how long he will struggle with the desire to cross it.

I hope that he knows he can with the time is right and appropriate. I hope he comes to realize he can live on both sides.
