Naturally
Lately, I have heard the statement, "This is the way I am, I can't help it." or "I re-act naturally, like any one else would act." or "I am this way by nature."
I have talked to some of you about this. Each from different view point. It all came together the other night. I am going to concede. It is true that this might be a natural re-action. The key word I am focusing on is natural.
The world re-acts naturally. Part of our mission on earth is to overcome those natural tendencies and form our actions and re-actions to the will of the Lord. Are we not instructed to overcome the natural man? Those seminary buffs are probably quoting the scripture right now.
The questions is how do we do it? What do we do to overcome? This is where it gets tough. For each of us, those natural tendencies are different. So in order to overcome them, we, as individuals have to recognize our own, and then set goals to overcome them.
I can tell you one thing though. The common thread in overcoming any of them is choice. We have to personally make the choice to overcome. We cannot talk about it, write it down, think about it, or ponder different ways we can. We have to do it. We have to choose and then do.
Sometimes we may find that the the methods we have chosen are not working. We then re-evaluate, modify, adjust, or even approach a new method. Again, we have to choose and then do. It is not always easy. Sometimes it is a battle we will fight every day, but as I have stated before, quoted from scripture, the Lord will not allow us to have a challenge that we cannot over come. In this we must trust in the Lord. Sometimes, that may be the hardest test to overcome. We have to trust in the Lord that we can, choose, and then do.
