He knows

It has been a busy weekend. Work is crazy with this volcanic ash hanging over Europe. We went to the temple on Friday night in conjunction with Stake Conference. Horn Man was up at 530 to go to the temple on Saturday morning, Tall Man was on his way to State Drama Competition by 715, and Tenor Man went to fulfill his responsibilities as Den Chief for the Webelos.

We were able to catch Tall Man performing, shop for wedding gifts, flew to a pre-wedding reception, flew back to our home town, eat dinner, send the boys to youth meetings, and then we went to some adult meetings.

Today, did not slow down. We had priesthood meetings bright and early. They were followed by a general session of stake conference and then we went down to visit Princess and her roommates for dinner. We think this will be a fun tradition of feeding them. It was very enjoyable today.

Now I am sitting here thinking about the events of the weekend. There have been many thought provoking moments. I will see how many of them I can share are life goes forward.

The one I would like to share tonight has been on my mind all weekend. We had the opportunity of doing sealings after our chapel meeting in the temple. We were taken to one of the small sealing rooms right off of the Celestial Room. We shared the experience with 3 other couples.

At one point, we were talking about the blessings being pronounced and how important they were. In particular, we were talking about Abraham. The sealer took a moment to instruct us. It was a marvelous moment. He pointed us to the 2nd chapter of Abraham. This is where Abraham personally records the blessing he received from Jehovah himself. What caught my attention was verse 8.

"My name is Jehovah, and I know the end from the beginning; therefore my hand shall be over thee."

Abraham was talking personally with Jehovah. Just as we would talk amongst ourselves. He introduces himself as we would. Then he reveals so much more. He tells Abraham that he knows exactly what concerns him, the struggles he is having, and lets him know that he is with him.

Think about it. What has Abraham gone through in his life. We assume he is about 60 year old here. As a child, he was almost offered as a sacrifice. He father worships idols. His brother dies. The area he is living in is in the middle of a great famine. Do you think that Abraham is wondering if all this life is worth it? I sense that he is a little frustrated when he goes to the Lord.

What does the Lord say? I know the end from the beginning. Abraham, I know what you are going through. I know of your challenges, the tears you have shed, the questions you have, the uncertainty you feel about your future and more. I know you.

Then he says, Therefore my hand shall be over thee.

No matter what happens to you, Abraham, I am with you.

Guess what, Jehovah knows us just as well. He is with us. He knows our end from the beginning. You can always know that. You can have confidence and faith in that. He is with you no matter what happens in your life.
