How does that happen?

Today is another one of those posts where I am going to start rambling before I name the post.

Life is busy.

Monday night, we had our little family council and talked about all the things that were happening this week. I just walked past the wall calendar and there more stuff there than there was on Monday. It is only Wednesday. How does that happen?

Last night, I sat at the west recommend desk and checked in maybe 6 people. It averaged out to be about 3 an hour when you look at the rotation I was on. When I went to the other areas of my rotation, it really was not any different. How does that happen?

There was one point in the evening when a brother left the temple with 4 youth. About 10 minutes later, the same brother returned and left the temple with 4 more youth. He repeated this cycle three more times. I sat there and wondered where the other youth leaders were. One what of his last trips, I asked why he was doing it. He said that he brought the youth in shifts so they could either do their homework before baptisms or after baptisms. I liked the idea, but what about his homework, his family, his primary responsibility as a husband and father? How does that happen?

My mind has been filled with little questions like that. I learned this evening that one of the sisters in our ward was riding her son's scooter home from school on Monday. She went to pick up her children on her bike. On the way home, one of her children wanted to ride the bike and not the scooter. She started going a little fast, lost control of the scooter, fell, and broke both of her arms. She is the Mom. How does that happen?

Life happens. It does not always happen the way we plan it to. It is up to use to make the adjustments and get it done. Because we know we are are sons and daughters of God, we have the added responsibility to make sure we are doing it in a way that would represent him. It is not impossible. The Lord will not expect more from us than we are capable of doing. When we do not agree with a co-worker, understand an assignment, want to complete a project, or feel that the events of life are not fair, we are still required to make it happen.

Make a plan, set a goal, move forward, compensate for obstacles, and make it happen.
