Special Time

I was reminded earlier this week about the significance of this time of year. Sometimes I just have to keep hearing it to realize someone is talking to me. I know that we have talked about it several times in the past few weeks, but I needed a brick to hit me in the head.

This coming Sunday we will be celebrating Easter. We have talked about it, planned for it, shopped for it, anticipated it in all of our meetings, but it just has not sunk in. Then Tuesday night, our temple matron reminded us again. I don't know why it took so many reminders, but it did. For that reason, I decided to add my reminder just in case someone else did it as well.

I know that Sunday is a special day and the climax of the season, but I have been thinking about all that happened before. I was challenged to read about the week Christ spent leading up to this event. I have taken time to ponder it and study. I will continue to do so.

What has stuck in my mind is the extreme burden he carried with him. He had an idea of what was going to happen, but I don't think he really knew it all. He did know that what he was going to do was going to benefit all of his brothers and sisters. All those people he was currently associating with. He had been working with them, teaching them, learning from them, serving them, and had a pretty good understanding of what they were struggling with.

As he watched them make mistakes, his heart ached. He suffered with them. The closer he got to his final days, the more clearer his understanding became. He watched more and more people, the people he loved, turn their backs on him. The clearer it became that he was not just going to suffer for them, but for all. Can you imagine?

Our matron reminded us that not only did he suffer for our mistakes, but for all our heartaches. He felt our disappointments, worries, concerns, heartbreaks, frustrations, and more. He felt and endured them individually that he might more fully understand and know us. It does not matter your circumstance, the Lord understands and is there to help. You can go to him with your physical needs, your temporal needs, your spiritual needs, and more. You can! I know this. I have gone to him. He has responded.

I encourage you to do the same.
