Show it, Say it, let them know

Today was very interesting. I have been trying to focus on a class I was given the opportunity to teach at the last minute. I have been helping a group prepare for a retirement celebration that took place today. I have also been concerned about finishing up this roll over to a new phone product. I still don't have everyone trained.

At a little after 5, we were all feeling the joys of taking deep breaths. The stress levels were dropping and everyone was starting to relax. I decided to take a few minutes and read a few of my emails. One fo the first ones that I read was from my director. It was not a long one and it was not sent only to me, it just said "Awesome, Wonderful, Amazing...Thank You all!" It made me feel good.

I stopped reading and decided that I needed to do the same. We had all been through some stressful and tense moments in the past few days. So I sent down and composed a little note to all those who had helped me succeed in the past few days. That also made me feel good.

In a recent meeting, I was reminded how important it is to share a moment of gratitude. They specified the importance of a hand written note. I have spoke in the 4th ward several times in this past year. Each time I do, the bishop of the ward, hands me a thank you card signed by he and his wife. It is a simple gesture, but goes a long way.

I have been trying to do it a little more. I need to continue doing it. We all do. Take the time to thank those who make you feel good. Whether it is a teacher, an advisor, a RA, a roommate, or just someone you recognize doing good. It does not matter the size or signaficance of the gesture. Take time to say Thank You. Write it, hand it, send it, or have it delivered. It will go a long way.
