Entry 100
I have been thinking a great deal today about boundaries and time limitations. Why do we have them? Why are boundaries placed around us? Why do you have to complete certain tasks within a time limitation?
I have been facing the never ending battle of teaching my children to be responsible. Each night, they are given time restraints. They have to go to bed at a certain time. Without fail, they continually fight me on those times. It does not matter how early we start reminding them that they need to start getting ready for bed, they are always up doing something else or looking for some reason to stay up beyond that time. The same thing happens in the morning. Each of them have alarm clocks. However, they either choose to not use them or ignore them.
The irony is that when we don't set time limits and tell them they can stay up as late as they want to or get up as late as they want to, they fall asleep on the couch or are up at the crack of dawn. Why?
The same thing happens when we tell them they need to maintain certain GPA or complete certain tasks if they want to do something. They fight, bicker, pick, procrastinate, and whine until the time is up. Then they get mad because we never let them do anything or are always restricting their privileges. I don't understand?
Does the Lord do the same to us? Do we do the same to him? What are we supposed to learn from this? Think about it and let me know.
