Practice
The sisters came by last night. We had an interesting lesson from then for family home evening. We talked about faith, prayer, and acting upon both of them. It was kind of hard for some to think about Heavenly Father standing right next to you while you pray. So we changed it up a little. We asked them to think about it as if there was something they really wanted to do, join, or have. Now they have to ask Mom and Dad for it. How do they go about it? Do they just blurt it out? Or do they think about all the things Mom and Dad will say and come up with counter points?
This is what it means to think it out and ponder it before you pray in faith.
Once you have done this, you have to approach Mom and Dad. What are you willing to do to get the desired result? How important is it to you?
When we pray, it is the same way. We need to be willing to do something to get the result we want. If we are not willing then it won't happen, we are just saying words out loud.
We need to think about those of whom we are praying. We need to think about who we are praying to. We need to keep this prayer in our heart at all times. The more we do this, the more we will get out of the prayer. It takes practice.
One of the boys was awed today how a person in concert band practices 4 hours a day. Think how good we would be if we practiced more then a few times a day or just a few minutes a day.
