Spining plates
I haven't been so good as of late. I am reminded today of a talk given by Elder Bednar. It was at a Priesthood Leadership Meeting. A question was asked of him about what is more important, your family, your job, your calling, or you. His answer was very interesting.
He compared the various responsibilities that we have to plate spinner. Have you ever seen one? The general idea is that it takes a long dowel and a plate. He starts with one plate and begins spinning it on the top of the dowel. Once the plate is going, he starts the next. Once he has several spinning on dowels, it does not become a matter of which one is more important. He doesn't just go back to the first and start spinning it to keep it going. He focuses on the plate that needs the most of his attention at any given moment. We should do the same.
I am doing my best to keep the focus where it needs to be. I don't always feel that I am succeeding, but I am trying to keep them all up and going.
