Filtering

I attended a leadership luncheon today. It was a very nice time. I was able to visit with fellow co-worker, rub shoulders with upper management, and fill my stomach at the same time.

After we had lunch, the senior vice president over our division spoke with us and answered several questions. One of the questions was related to a change is desktop applications that the company seems to be testing. He told us that he has read the report and knows our concerns, but that 34 differences between our current application and the one they are testing would not be a hard challenge to over come. We all went silent. He looked at us in confusion. He wanted to why we were surprised.

Well to start with, I organized the report from our office. I had over 125 items or differences on that report. I had shared my findings with many in the office. We all knew that some where between our report and the report he had received, some one had filtered out several key elements. That concern him and us.

I have been thinking about that all day long. How many times do we filter things to make our side of the story or our image look better than it is? Then I wonder if this is what we could call honesty in all your dealings with your fellow man? Could I do or do I do this? It has me re-evaluating what I do each day. I encourage you to do the same. If you have filtered, go back and give a full report. It is a matter of eternal salvation.
