Scripture Though 11/1/08

1 Nephi 2:9

The river was named Laman. Lehi describes it as the source of life. He wanted Laman to be like unto the river. Ever flowing, feeding, and strengthening those who drew from him.

We need to be the same way. A river of living water does both giving and taking. The fountain, Jesus Christ, consistently fills us where we lack. We benefit from that out pouring of blessings. We have a choice. We can then block this fountain of strength or let it flow through us freely. Hence our of our actions, preachings, and energy should flow with the righteousness of the head.

The Red Sea was also symbolic of life. It was fed by an every flowing river. All those who lived around it benefited from its strength. Trade, Salt, Fish, and Cleanliness flowed to those who wanted.

The gospel is the same way. As members we fee those who step into our light, they are fed by our spirit and testimony. Everyone around should benefit from this light. Are we strengthening this river or polluting it. What can we do to be like unto this river of Laman?
