Seer

I have always wondered what it would be like to be a seer. We read about them all the time in the scriptures. We believe that some day, the earth we live on will be Celestialized and become a great seer stone for all those who live up on it. In other words, in the Celestial Kingdom will all be seers because of the earth.

Anyway, I have always wondered what it would be like. Today when I was reading, I started wondering how much different that is than being a parent. When I look at my children, I can see so much potential in them. I have gotten to know them over the years. I also have had varied experiences through out my own life. I can't say that I have been in their shoes exactly, but it has been pretty darn close.

When they make certain choices in their lives, I am able to see several possible out comes. Some of them are not the most pleasant or enjoyable to foresee. Yet I realized today, that the most I can do is counsel, guide, encourage, and pray that my children will either change, learn from the experience, or at least have the strength to endure the choices they have made. It is not always easy.

Joseph, of Egypt, Nephi, Lehi, Moses, Noah and probably may other prophets were given the opportunity to see the outcome of their seed. It must have been amazing to see all the incredible accomplishments they were able to achieve. On the flip side, it must have been very difficult to see them fail.

Knowing these things I am sure that they, like myself, wanted to do everything they could to make sure their seed did not fail. However, at some point, they had to understand that it was a matter of their children's' own agency that allowed them to achieve or fail. The only thing they could to was continue to counsel, guide, encourage, and pray. I will continue to do the same.
