Return on Investment
I remember sitting next to my director in a meeting a few months ago and she passed me a note. We were in a meeting where she did not feel appropriate asking the question. So, she handed me the note and asked me to ask. The first time I looked at the note, I had no idea what it said. It read, "What is the ROI?" After a quick side bar, I understood that she wanted to know what the "Return on Investment" was for this new product or policy.
After yesterday's blog, I have been thinking about this a great deal. I am sure that the manager of the given project, nervously stood before a panel of directors at some point and had to pitch the value of such investment. I try to envision the months that followed as they had to account for the gain or loss of before mentioned investment.
Then my mind was filled with the idea of standing before my Savior, doing my best to explain my gain and losses. Then I watch my Savior turn and give an account to our Father. Can you see in your mind, the Lord standing before the grand council in Heaven and pitching the value of investing in his brothers and sisters upon this earth? Can you see him them being held accountable for our gains and losses? Explaining to our Father what we did or did not do and taking responsibility for it. Taking responsibility for something that he had no control of and then giving credit where credit was due, but not placing blame where blame should be placed.
Does that make sense to you? What did you promise the Savior his return would be? Are you living up to that commitment? It gives one something to think about.
