Sister Sanity
Yes, we are home, alive, and the boys are well fed. I don't know whose bright idea it was in the RS to put a bunch of boys in charge of the RS Gathering's primary class, but they did.
I don't remember what day it was, Friday, Saturday, or something like that, Tenor Man and I were asked to take care of the senior primary class during the RS Gathering. How hard could it be? There would be two of us and just a few of them. Then Sunday I learned that Tenor Man would have the lesson and that the oldest Socha would be joining us. OK, three of, all school age kids, and a small room, how hard could it be.
Well, that is not really what happened. Tenor Man was supposed to have the school age kids, the oldest Socha was to have the under school age kids, and I was supposed to go between the two of them. They had scissors, beans, seeds, glue, pictures, tables, and more. Each boy was given a lesson and some books to present.
It was pure insanity. The first mistake was opening the nursery closet. The second mistake was letting the Thulin children and Maddie take charge. The books, lesson, and activities were silly. They just wanted to play games. Oh and it was not fair that the little kids were separated from their older siblings.
Of course, the other problem was that as little scouts slowly wound down, they would come and see what was going on. Then the school age kids got bored, well at least some of them, and then it became a game to see if we could keep them all contained. We could block the doors, but if one of the smaller kids were to accidentally get hurt, then the older kids could escape while we were distracted. OH MY HECK!
We made it. Horn Man was with the little scouts, so he came over when they were done. It was about that time that the Sister's remembered that the Queen was not around and that I was probably not providing appropriate meals for the family. They happened to be having home made bread, soup, and cobbler for the Gathering. The boys did their best to play it up. The sisters wanted to pawn all the left over off on us. I didn't think we needed it. The boys and sisters did. Well, kind of. The boys thought we needed the cobbler, but could care less about the soup. Why you ask? What do you think we had for dinner this evening? When the sisters asked what we had eaten, I went on to describe the Turkey Tortellini soup we had eaten with dinner rolls and salad if desired. They looked at me with suspicion and are probably wondering how the Queen was able to prepare so many meals before leaving. They asked what I was taking for lunch tomorrow. I again described the soup we had eaten for dinner and let them know we were fine.
It will be Horn Man's responsibility to make chocolate chip cookies to replace the cobbler when we return the empty dish. Maybe we should invite them over to dinner so they see we are not wasting away.
Swing Man, you missed out. Princess, I am sure you were having more fun than us.
Just wanted to let you know we are making it.
