Conquest vs Defeat

Today has been full of them.

Everyone got up, out of the house, and going in the right direction - conquest.

Swing Man came home from work not feeling well - defeat.

Laundry and groceries checked off the list - conquest.

Had to pay a $30 co-pay to replace Tenor Man's frames - defeat?  Does this really make sense?  We had to pay extra for the extended warranty on the frames, but then we have to pay a co-pay for the replacement frames.  It then end, did we really save anything?  May a buck or two.

Dinner cooked, on the table, and together before Swing Man went to practice - conquest.

I was only able to get 3.5 miles before my calves gave out - defeat.

Read scriptures with those who were present, Matthew 13 - conquest.

Tenor Man wiped me off the board while playing Risk for FHE - defeat.

We are all alive and well - conquest.

With all the battles of the day, I am tired.  Two days off just does not seem like enough some times.  It makes me wonder if I am using my time wisely enough.  I make lists, I set reminders on my phone, I do the checks and balances, but at the end of the day, I don't know if I have accomplished what needed to be done.

As I wallow in my pity, suddenly the battle of Shiz and Coriantumr comes to mind and I wonder what I am complaining about.  How did they feel at the end of each day as they watched their numbers dwindle to nothing?  Even though they were fighting a battle that seem to have no end, they kept going.  When Coriantumr won, there was no one there to cheer him on, no one to celebrate with him of over him, yet he kept moving.  He wandered, alone until he was found by the Mulekites.

I guess we could say the same thing about Moroni.  Not only did he see all that love lose the battle, he keep moving forward.  He remained faithful.  It mattered not what was to become of him, he looked to the next day, he put his faith in Christ, and knew that in the end, it would all be worth it.

I need to find that same spirit.  I just need to keep moving on.  Don't we all?
