It Is What You Do Going Forward

It has been a good day.  I was up several hours before dawn even cracked.  I listened to several calls, made sure two of the boys were up, signed out, grabbed a lunch, and made sure the third was a live and getting up before I headed out the door.

I spent the rest of my work day coaching agents. When the day is over, I always find myself reviewing the events in my head on they way home.  It is hard not to compare each coaching session that I have.  Sometimes I see improvement, sometimes I see denial, and other times I just can't explain it.

Today was one of those days.

I found myself continuing the recap as I ran.  As I was wrapping it up, I caught comment from the TV episode I was watching that suddenly put it all together.  It has pertained to everything that has happened since.

The victim of a kidnapping had witnessed a murder, was not supported by family, had lost a finger, and a great deal of his dignity.  He wondered whether it was all worth it.  The detective's reply was simple.  She said, "It doesn't matter what we are dealt, what matters is what we do with the experience going forward."

This is so true.

Tenor Man talked today about being chastised in polo.  It doesn't matter what he received, but what the does with the information going forward.

I attended an employment meeting this evening.  The same theme continued.  We can coach and coach, but in the end, it is not what we do, but what the candidate does with the coaching going forward.

It does not matter how we receive a witness, but what we do with it going forward.

What are you going to do?
