Called to Serve
Hope this heading was not miss leading. I have not heard from Swing Man's BF. We are still waiting.
The true purpose of this heading is to tell you what I learned to day. Did you know that in the English Hymnal, "Called to Serve" only had two verses, yet in the Spanish Hymnal it has four? Today, I was wishing I was back in Mexico.
Swing Man and I agreed to speak this week. He had a speaking topic and I was told go make one up. On Friday evening, Grandpa Ric verified the assignment and asked if there was anything else I wanted to add. I told him I wanted another speaker and/or a really long rest hymn. As it goes, I did not get either one.
I am not knocking Swing Man. He gave an excellent talk. I was just hoping for another 5 to 10 minutes out of him. I hope he knows that some day soon, he will be in my shoes and having to pull the extra 5 to 10 out of a hat and in many cases, he may find that he only has a day or hours to prepare. This is just a suggestion, but it might be good to prepare a few stand by talks now, just in case.
Anyway, when I stood up to speak, I was really ready to see if we could sing the song in a round and breaking the congregation up into three sections. As I think about it now, it might have been fun to teach them the other two verses out of the Spanish Hymnal and then sing them. That did not happen either.
I ended up rambling on like I do here. Hopefully it was beneficial to someone in the congregation.
