Choices in the Plan

Merry Christmas!!!

It has been such a wonderful day.  We were up at the crack of dawn, but not to open gifts or see what night visitors left for us.  I was up to shovel snow.  It snowed and snowed and snowed.  I think I am seeing a pattern here.  Hasn't it snowed like crazy the last two years on Christmas Day?

So here is my theory.  I am not blaming anyone or trying to curse a specific area, but certain areas down south have not had any super major hurricanes the past two years.  In fact, the weather has been kind of mild.  This has been a concern of mine for the past two years.  Just sayin, maybe it will change next year.

Any who, I had a wonderful time moving somewhat fluffy white stuff all morning.  I then slid on down to the church house and did my best to move some more.  I was thinking I could wrap things up when a brother tapped me on the shoulder and told me that we were cancelling services today, because the roads were just to crazy.  I did not have any troubles on my we down, but I tended to agree as I had several problems on the way home.  I passed several who were still digging out.

It was not the normal Christmas.  It was not a normal Sabbath, but we did our best to make it Holy.  We played uplifting music, read, relaxed, and waited, somewhat patiently, to see and hear from our boys.  I know it was not what either one of them expected it to be, but it was so worth the wait.

That has been the day.  Let's move on to the thoughts.

This week: 2 Nephi 2:16-17

I have been reminded again and again this week that a huge part of the plan has been to let us learn to act for ourselves.  I have pondered this in so many way this week.  Everything we do comes down to a choice.  It is not always a choice between good and evil.  It is just filled with choices.  The Lord wanted us to learn that we can choose.  That every choice we make has a consequence.  But remember that consequences are not always a bad thing, they are just the result of the choices we make.  The most important part is that we do choose.

Verse 17 continued to teach me this.  When we choose, we need to commit to the choice we make.  Does that mean we cannot change our minds?  Nope, it just means that if we choose one path, there will be a period of time that we will have to walk that path.  We may walk it for a short period of time or a long period of time.  While we do so, we will be living with the consequences of that path.  Again, whether the path is good, evil, or just a path we chose, we will have to walk it.  We may find out that once on that path, it is not where we want to be going.  Therefore, we walk it until we find an opportunity to choose another.

Satan, once an angel of the Lord, made a choice.  He could have changed at any time, but he did not.  He not only continued down the path, but encouraged others to join him.  They made choices.  In fact, we learn that 1/3 of our heavenly family made a choice.  They are living the consequences of that choice.

On the flip side, 2/3 of our heavenly family also made a choice.  They too are living the consequences of that choice.  Each of them made the choice for different reasons.  Some may question why they made the choice and wonder if it is the right one or not.  Others are sticking to the choice and doing their best to live it.  Lehi made choices based on what he read, learned, and received.  We do the same.

I encourage you to study out The Plan.  Learn to understand it.  It does not come to you in just one setting.  It is something you need to study, live, act upon, and most importantly commit to.  As you do, you will learn that maybe there are things you need to change, different paths you  need to follow, or paths you want to follow.  That is OK.  It is my hope, my prayer, my desire that as you make those choices, they will lead you back to Home.  The place we lived with our Father in Heaven, our Savior Jesus Christ, and our Eternal Family.  As I have pondered this things, that is what I have learned is most important about the choices I make; will they get me to where I can be with my Family.

Yep, I rambled some more.

Our week has been pretty good.

The Queen and I worked.  It has been kind of crazy around the system.  The weather has been crazy.  Some days were more productive than others.

The Professor prepped for a return to track.  She ran a boat load of errands, saw the doctor, had her vision checked, and closed out some of those end of year things we always seem to put off until the end.

Tall Man and Ehl-Bo have both been fighting the gunk that has been going around. We are glad that both of them are on the up swing of that gunk.

May you all be blessed in the week to come.  Again, Merry Christmas!
