Looking for

Last night was busy, I started work early in the morning. I did another one of those 1 a.m. start times. The boys were out of school for UEA, so I had a little more flexibility with my hours. I got home about 10:30, fixed something to eat, and crashed for a few hours.

The afternoon and evening was spent working on the fence, garden, and pack meeting. We just kept hopping from one place to the other. Moose went out with friends and the rest of us went back and forth between pack meeting and home. We rapped the evening up with a movie. It was one of those, "I wish I had a better life that was not restricted with parents.." type of themes, almost a "Wonderful Life" type movie. The attitude of the main character rubbed me wrong. I kept thinking, what kind of message is this sending to our children. The character was rude and obnoxious to parents, siblings, and friends. She was very arrogant.

This morning, I read a quote that said something like, look for the ridiculous in everything and you will find it. I has given me some thought to ponder. The character in this movie was looking for something different and found it. It is just the same in our lives. If we look for the negative, the opportunity to be the first to cut someone down, the reasons why Mom and Dad will say No, the reasons why we hate math, language, school, lack of social life...etc., then we will find it.

We always hear about people looking for greener pastures. Are they looking for greener pastures or are they looking for the worst of the pasture they are in? If that is what they are really looking for, that is exactly what they will find in the other pastures as well. We need to think about what we are looking for in life's day to day activities. We need to stop focusing on what we don't have, what we can't do, what is hard, and start focusing on just the opposites - what we can do, what we do have, and what is relatively easy. If we do, we will be amazed at how much happier the world around us will be.
