Scripture Thought 10/26/09
1 Nephi 4:7
This is a small verse and after reading it again, maybe I got ahead of myself on the last thought.
"Never the less I went forth."
What do you hear in this statement? Nephi is leaving his brothers behind, stepping onto new spiritual ground, and preparing to face a man who has been trying to kill him. Did I mention he is alone?
As some point in our lives we are all going to have to do this. We are going to have to face our own spirituality. How much do we trust in the Lord as Nephi was trusting here? Do we do it alone or do we look to others and follow their lead? As I read that last question, I guess it is not stated correctly. Are we really alone? It may feel like it, but if we are trusting in him, I promise you that you will not be alone. You will have Him or his angels there beside you every step of the way.
I also hear a the voice of fear being overcome by courage and faith. "I am scared, but I am going to move forward." What a powerful example. "I don't know what is going to happen. I don't know what I will learn or what I will be required to do. I don't know if I will be able to do what is required of me. However, I have prayed about it, it felt right when I did, now I need to shake of the doubting whispers of the adversary, trust in the Lord and the feelings He sent me and move forth."
Do you understand what he is saying? Ponder it. Apply it to your life. Pray about it. He will answer you.
