Reflecting Gratefully

I just plugged in the head phones, opened up Pandora.com, and attempt to drown out the ever present Disney Channel. I am grateful for certain types of technology.

It has been a quiet evening thus far. The Queen is serving in the temple this evening. She will not be home until late. The boys have been taxied to their various scouting activities, one of which is already home for some reason. It appears that he had a good time though, thus the reason for the ear buds.

Before he arrived, I had the opportunity to be sitting and reflecting. I have a couple talks to prepare for Sunday. We have been asked to share our feelings and insights on those talks that touched us from the Priesthood Session, which is now available online in all its formats. I am so excited about being able to add it to my audio library.

Princess just called to talk to the Queen about her class schedule and was seeking advice on professors. She sounded tired, but happy. Life has her running in many directions. After I hung up with her I started thinking.

It has been very evident from the cluttered calendar hanging in our kitchen that life is busy. We are all going many directions, extending ourselves to several limits, but that thought that hit me as I listen Princesses voice was, are we happy? Are we glad we are doing what we are doing?

While talking to the boys over dinner preparation, it was evident that we are all tired. Because of this exhaustion, there was some misinterpreted communication taking place. I just want to clarify that there was no mal intent from the communication. I was simply asking what was happening to cause the exhaustion. Not maliciously, but to know what was going on in life. As I reflect, I ask again, are we glad we are doing the things that exhausting us? Are we learning from the experience?

It has given me reason to reflect. I want you to know that I am happy with that of which I am doing. It does stretch me. I appreciate each of you when my extended life spills over into yours. It pleases me to see your willingness to help around the house, doing simple tasks when asked and even looking for chances to do it when not asked. I do see and recognize your efforts. Thank you. I hope that you understand that my querying is not malicious, but done with the intent of trying to help you reach your goals.

Be Happy. Be Grateful. Be the BEST you can Be.
