Clear Communication

At work, I have the opportunity to assist several types of people. Each of them comes to me seeking clarification, understanding, or even translation. I have learned that each of them are different. More importantly, each of them are different from me. They each think, process, and produce differently.

When then come to me, I have to remember that what may sound simple to me may not be simple to them. I find it interesting that the Lord works in the same way. Do you think that when he is trying to communicate with us, he recognizes those differences and tries several method of communication before we get it? Let me give you some examples.

I was communicating via email today with an agent. She was asking me for some updated contact information so that my manager could communicate with me this coming weekend. I provided the information and the agent responded, via email, you need to call me right away.

I ask her where she was sitting and hurried out to she what she needed. I soon learned that I did not need to. She was telling me that after I received communication from my manager, that I needed to call her right away. The understanding and clarity was lost in the translation.

I find that this happens quite often. I find that I have to repeat the same information several times to several times in several different ways before some people are able to understand what I am trying to communicate. It is the same message, just processed differently.

I challenge you to think about that when you are talking about the gospel or even speaking to the Lord in prayer when you are trying to communicate your desires.
