Giving a gift

As this Christmas season is quickly drawing upon us, I have been thinking a great deal about the idea of giving. I have heard several people who are more concerned about receiving than giving. I think we need to focus on the giving part.

There are lots of ways to give. Don't let the hustle and bustle of the world let you forget how to give. I have been concerned about getting lost this way myself. For example, the other day, I had just dropped tall one off at school and was on my way back to the house. While driving, I noticed an older gentleman riding a bike that looked a little small for him. Suddenly, the front tire dropped in to a crevice and he turfed it.

My first reaction was to stop and help him. I instinctively placed my foot on the break. Then the car behind my started honking. They did not want me to stop nor did they care about the person who had just biffed it. There was not really a way for me to pull over. I was trapped in the hustle and bustle of the morning commute. I felt bad about it all day long.

I made a commitment to myself to do better. I would encourage you to do the same. Look for the opportunity to serve. Find ways to answer others prayers.
