Distractions

I have found it very easy to get distracted as of late. There is so much out there to do that will waste my time. I have a feeling that some of you may be having the same problem. I find that I even have to do it at work as well.

For example, this morning I arrived at work to find that I had 60 emails to go through from the day before or while I was off. I could have sat down at the computer and read them or responded to them for first hour or so and then looked at something else to do. I find however, that once I start responding to emails and reading them, I get caught in a trap if more emails come in while I am reading. I could end up spending the rest of the day just waiting for the emails to come in.

The same thing happens when I looking at something on the Internet. I start searching for one thing, while searching something else will catch my eye and then I spend longer than I wanted to on the computer and really don't accomplish much.

I could go on and on. Computer games, Instant Messaging, Face Book, watching TV etc... The point I am trying to make is that we need to know our own weaknesses. We need to set goals, even for simple things like this. Make sure that you are doing the important things, reading scriptures, studying for school, saying your prayers, writing in a journal and stuff like that. If you have projects to complete, manage your time. These things that I have mentioned are not completely bad, just don't let them dominate. Budget time for what you need to do. It is not always easy, but important to do.
