Enduring, Moving Forward, Faithful...

This morning while we were reading in Heleman, Nephi was given a very special blessing from the Lord. Because of his unwearingness in teaching, the Lord told him that what ever he commanded would happen.

When we read about this kind of power, it is easy to dream about what one would do with it. For example, right now, we are told that because of the mountain we live next to, we will not be able to receive television transmissions after the 17th of Feb. That is kind of annoying. It would be nice to be able to tell the mountain to move enough that we might received that transmission. Thinking of this power this way would be cool.

However, if we read that chapter, the reason Nephi was given this power was because the Lord knew that he would not do anything contrary to the Lord's will. How did he gain that trust? It appears that he endured, kept moving forward, magnified his callings, never gave up, even when the challenges of life became difficult. He did not stop.

We too are promised that someday, we can have this power. First we have to prove ourselves to the Lord. We have to do the same things that Nephi did. When work, school, church callings, or our beliefs appear to be more than we can handle, we are asked to seek strength and continue. We are not told it is OK to give up. We just keep doing our best. Seek this blessing by remaining faithful.
