Different Fabric

I have been struggling with what I would like to talk about today. While driving around, I have been hearing different reports about the world that are a little disturbing. However, this day I would like to talk about being cut from a different fabric.

I have the opportunity of being off today. Since I have work on Saturday, I get to choose an extra day off during the week so I could cause the company to pay me overtime. So here I am. I have been thinking about all different things that I could do or that I need to do. But as you know, life does not always go as planned.

Moose was up a little before 5. The Queen's alarm went off a little after 5:30. What I thought was Tenor Man, but turned out to be Horn Man was up about 5:15. The shower went from Moose to Horn Man. I don't know how, but it seems or appears that the Queen can sleep through all of it. I just lay in bed trying not to think of what the day was going to bring and go back to sleep.

The Queen got up and headed down to the office at 5:45. Horn Man was still in the shower. I knew that I was going to have to get up and take Moose to seminary any minute. I must have dozed. Suddenly I woke up and looked at the clock. It was after 6. I had not heard the phone ring. I jumped out of bed, flew down stairs, and tried to figure out what I had missed.

The Queen was on the phone with tech assist desk. She did not have all the applicable icons to let her into work. Moose had gone back to bed. He heard me coming and started getting dressed. I went up to the study to see if I could get the missing icons on my sine. I could, but she could not. It was crazy.

As I walked towards the door to take Moose to his class, I heard Horn Man loose the contents of his stomach in the bathroom. It was going to be one of those days.

When I got home, the Queen was upstairs tending to Horn Man and thinking about working out. There wasn't anyone in headquarters that could install the icon. They told her they would call her back when there as someone there. We worked out together, had breakfast together, and then decided that I needed to go about the other things I was planning on doing.

This all sounds kind of adventurous. But the thing I want to point out is that the entire time all of this was happening. The Queen was racking herself with guilt. She felt that she should be doing something. But what could she do. She felt guilty for not doing her job, but knowing that she was getting paid for it. I had to keep reminding her that if it had been anyone else, they would not have been able to do any more than she could. If she were in Tampa or Denver, she would not be able to go to the office. If she were not married to a fellow co-worker who understood the program and had access, she would not have ever known that she was not the only one experiencing the problem. She just needed to relax and wait.

She did end up calling in about every 45 mins and some where between 9 and 10, she was able to get access. Noting that her shift started at 6. She, like many of us, is cut from a different fabric. The world would not have stressed about it. The world would just move on. We need to be in the world, but not of the world. I would not want her to be any different.
