Opposition
When I was working in the temple the other day, one of counselors in the presidency made an interesting comment. He was talking about how the Lord knew where we were, but so did Satan. He told us that if there was not opposition in our lives now, there would be. That is just the way it is. Especially because we are doing something to promote good.
That has got me to thinking. What do we consider to be opposition? Is it all external? Can opposition come from with in? Does it come from just those we would expect it to come from? I don't know.
I struggle with this opposition. I don't like it when it comes from people or things that I would not expect. When I am facing challenges, I prefer to be able to go to those people or things for support. Don't we all? So what do we do?
I know that when opposition comes, I need to be better at supporting those who are close to me. I need to figure out a way to lift up, cover, console, and succor them. I would hope that they would do the same. There have been times as of late that these moments of opposition have caught me off guard. It is frustrating not being able to respond or not knowing how to respond to it. I fear that my silence is interpreted the wrong way.
What do I do? I turn to the Lord and encourage those around me to do the same. He will always know the answers. They may not be what we want to hear, but he will share them with us. He will also guide us as to how we are to respond and help buoy up those in need. Pray, listen, de-clutter your life that you may.
