Makes me think
This morning we were reading in Helaman during breakfast. Chapter 4 has had me thinking all day long. Mom talked about what we know of the cities that were built. We only see ruins, but they are humongous. Can you imagine them full of people and thriving? What would it have taken to over powered such a city with just clubs, bows, arrows, swords, and cimiters? The army had to be massive.
We read about why they were destroyed. Verses 10-13 lay it all out for us. After reading these verses, I was suddenly struck with the thought that I may not be any better than they were. How many people are oppressed today because of their humble means? They just want to have something a little better in life. Yet there are many out there today that will take advantage of them. It is almost a mockery.
I started wondering if I should not do more. Couldn't I do more? How much do I hoard instead of share? Am I sharing the blessings that the Lord has shared with me? I spent some time cleaning out my closet and dresser today. I think we could all stand to do so. Read it, think about it. What is going to change?
