Out of the Blue

I just wanted to make sure that I was checking in today. Some of my thoughts may just what the title says, "out of the blue." Since you all know me so well, that will not surprise you.

Isn't life interesting. Sometimes, some of the best ideas, thoughts, experiences are things that seem to just appear out of the blue. You don't know why you say it, why you do it, or who in their right mind ever would, but then we do.

The key word there is do. Isn't that the way it is supposed to work. The spirit whispers and we are supposed to do. Shouldn't we all respond that way when prompted? I think we are. I had an experience recently where I was prompted. I don't know why, but I was. I have a couple sisters that I am supposed to home teach. They live together, but in the 12 years I have been here, they have never been active. I have stopped by the house a couple of times. Finally met one of them who gave me a correct phone number. Most of the time I just knock and ask how things are. Those that answer the door look at me kind of strangely and tell me they will pass on the message that I stopped by. I started just calling once in a while to find out how things were going.

Anyway, I had the feeling and idea that I needed to stop by with a bouquet of flowers. I blew it off. It kept coming back. So I acted the other day. A familiar face answered the door. However, with me standing there with flowers in my hand, asking for each of the sisters by name, it kind of freaked her out. I told her I was a home teacher and that just caused a blank look of nothing. She called for one of the sisters and I told her a stranger was at the door. I presented the flowers and told her that I had been thinking of her and felt they needed a bit of brightness in their home. She gladly took the flowers, told me that her mother was florist and she had not had flowers like that in the house for a long time. It made her smile. I hope she will remember my face. She had a house full of family, so I excused myself and apologized for interrupting. Her comment, "Flowers are never and interruption". It felt good.

So it comes out of the blue. How do we know it is a prompt or just something out of the blue? We don't. As long as it does not harm, break the commandments, violate any laws, or slow our progress in life, what does it matter? We should act. Just do. You may be surprised what you find, what you enjoy, and what memories you will cherish.
